About the Westbury Centre |
The Westbury centre is owned by Warwick District Council. It was officially opened on the 6th of May 1966 by Captain Viscount Althorp M.V.O. The centre was aided by the Foundation for Sports and the Arts who provide funding for the all weather pitch.
The location of the centre is a real bonus, providing a meeting place for local people in the community.
The Westbury Play Group take advantage of the centre's fully equipped playroom and offers a great time for children and an opportunity for parents to meet , make new friends and take part in the centre activities.
Adult education takes place on several days each week and includes everything from craft groups and art clubs to N.H.S training. Full disabled access is avialable to all areas and disabled members of the community make full use of the Westbury Centre, joining in with many of the classes and events taking place each week.
The centre has become a popular training area for many local sports teams who use the facilities because of its location, flexibility, and friendly atmosphere.
The Leamington Boys Club whose former member Randolph Turpin was Leamington's own World Middleweight Boxing Champion has many historical links with the centre and are one of the largest users of its facilities. They offer their 200 members a varied programme of events including camping trips, sports, drama classes, survival training weekends and many community based activities.
The Westbury Centre offers a variety of facilities which can be hired at very competitive rates.
